Amanda lives, paints and exhibits in the historic artist colony of Nashville, Indiana. Working in acrylic, this talented artist breaks away from traditional landscapes and still life paintings. Her imagination explodes on canvas and paper with delightful
primitives, capturing scenes both past and present. Amanda’s style omits facial features, but the distinguishing characteristics of dress, form and stance make it easy to determine who her subject is. Her strong vibrant colors and fresh whimsical humor
combine for a simple, appealing charm. She refers to her art as “Ph.D”, otherwise known as -Primitive humorous Designs. Amaiida teaches art for children of all ages through the John Waldron Art Center in Bloomington, as well as at her studio. Her
adult workshops are very popular.
Amanda travels the U.S. exhibiting her paintings in art fairs and galleries. Her works hang in private collections in the U.S., Canada,France, Germany, England and Spain.
The A.W Mathis studio is open most Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1-5 p.m.also by appointment. Special commissioned art work of businesses, homes and families are accepted.
