As an artist and a craftsperson I have a deep appreciation for the unique beauty each individual embodies, and I have trained my eye to best capture this "inner essence" on film. As a parent, I wish to do more than
simply record a physical stage of my child's life in photographs. My interest in portraiture began with my desire to create images of my daughter free from the limitations of traditional studio portraits. Images that reveal who she is and what she
loves; sensitive to her serious, contemplative side, as well as the playful child that she is. It has been through merging these interests and my love for people that I created my business, Illuminessence Photography. I offer an alternative to standard
studio portraits; black and white images focused on individuality, in casual settings of your choice. I prefer to work with natural lighting and encourage locations and props which put you at ease. To assure the highest quality product, I custom print
each portrait by hand in my own darkroom. I am currently working on a Fine Arts Portrait project entitled "REAL: Beautiful Women" which honors the female in all her various forms, lifestyles and stages of life. I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Indiana
University with a B.A. in Fine Arts. I have taught Black & White Portraiture classes at the John Waldron Arts Center and the Campus Community Arts Center. My work has been shown locally and in Indianapolis. I reside in Bloomington with my husband,
