James Tracy was born in the art colony of Nashville, Indiana in nineteen fifty. His exposure to the art of T.
C. Steele, Gustav Baumann, Glenn Cooper Henshaw, Adolf Shulz, L.O. Griffith, Marie Goth, and other local masters; led to an early awakening of his natural artistic talent. He began formal training at eight years of age, studying with area artists. Tracy
later attended Vincennes University, The University of New Mexico, and Indiana University. Since embarking on his professional career over twenty five years ago Tracy has worked in most drawing and painting media, print making techniques, ceramics, and
wood sculpture.
The Joy Farm

A study of light falling across a valley, creating abstract patterns of color
and shapes, and the textures of the dead weeds and bare trees; all combine to
create a somewhat mysterious scene.
Winter House
The snow covered farm scene, everyone's inside; a time of quiet.

Spring house saw this turquoise painted farm house in the midst of all the early spring
colors and had to paint it. The weird colored shapes created by the morning
light was an added bonus.
